CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
Linda Harker
“Bespoke oak small cabinet and bookcase made for me by Richard. Absolutely perfect for where that are going. The oak cabinet has dovetail joints and a lovely oiled finish. The bookcase I’ve painted and added ceramic knobs. This is the second time Richard has made something for me to my specifications and would recommend him to anyone. The work was completed and delivers in just over a week. Thank you Richard

ABOUT MYSELF…
My passion for joinery was ignited during my formative years, while my family undertook the comprehensive renovation of a derelict farmhouse.
This immersive experience provided a practical foundation in construction and an early appreciation for transforming spaces.
These early skills proved invaluable later in life, empowering me to manage the extensive modernization of my own property.
Driven by this hands-on experience, I formally pursued a career in the trade. In 2002, I began an apprenticeship with a company specializing in bespoke kitchens and custom furniture. Over the next 14 years, I honed my craft across various joinery and bespoke kitchen enterprises, navigating the industry through economic shifts, including the 2007 recession.
In 2016, I seized the opportunity to establish my own business, spending the bulk of that year refurbishing a cottage in the Nidderdale area.
Operating as an independent professional has yielded significant benefits, allowing me to fully engage with the local community and maintain complete ownership of projects from initial concept to final completion. My business has since been sustained primarily through positive personal recommendations and repeat clientele.
FAQ’s
How to book
Please contact me now to discuss your project. My diary can fill up quickly in the spring and summer, so an early enquiry would be advisable to reduce waiting times. For outside work and external doors, it would be wise to contact me before August to secure the work.
How much do you charge ?
Contact me now with details of your requirements. I would typically put together an estimate comprising materials and an envisaged timescale. This can then be monitored once the work has started to give a clearer figure on the final cost.
Do you charge VAT ?
No, I do not charge any VAT.
Do you offer a design service?
I can work with an existing design you may have, or offer my own input on how the space can be maximised, based on my experience and working within the constraints of the materials. However, in order to manage project costs effectively, I may be able to offer you a simplified design.
Will there be a lot of mess?
I will prioritise minimising disruption to your home. Reasonable care is taken to maintain a clean workspace; materials are typically cut externally, and components are prepared before delivery whenever feasible.
Can you work with my existing tradesmen on my house refurbishment?
I have worked on several projects alongside other trades, co-ordinating the various activities, such as building stud walls for plasterers, setting up floors and panelling for bathrooms, preparing floors for electricians and finalising repair work for the decorators.
Will I need to pay a deposit?
A deposit may be required in advance to purchase materials, particularly for larger projects. I have also collected payment on delivery when a client has had a negative experience in the past and needed to rebuild trust with a tradesman.
